If the original box of the game is worn out, or if you have already created your own board game and want to store it, you may want to make a board game box. The label plate is thicker than paper but thinner than corrugated cardboard and is suitable for most board game boxes.
Measure the length and width of a folded board game or a maximum board game. Add about 1/2 to 1 inch of extra space for these measurements.
Decide on the height required to make the board game box. Most board game boxes have a height of about 1 1/2 to 2 inches, but for larger pieces, some game boxes need to be taller.
Double the height of the box and add this number to the length and width.
Cut a label plate with the length and width from step 3. If the label plate is not large enough, you may need to glue the two pieces together.
Use the ruler to draw a square of height and size on each corner of the label board. Cut off each of the four squares. The area between the squares will be the side of the game board box.
Fold the sides of the box between the cutting areas. You may want to scribble the label board with scissors to make it easier and more foldable.
The corners of the box are glued together inside and outside.
Repeat steps 1 through 7 to make another box for the lid. It should be about 1/4 inch.
Use a marker to decorate the board game cover, or create a design on your computer, print it out and paste it onto the lid. Make sure to include the name of the board game on the top and sides of the box.
In order to make a simpler board game box, you may want to buy a ready-made gift box. You can find pure white gift boxes in many dollar stores. If the box is not long enough to hold the board game, you can cut off the ends of the two gift boxes and then overlap them. You need to glue them together.
If you are replacing a worn board game box, you can cut the name and decorations from the original box and paste them into the new box.
